The Mapelli Foundry began in 1954 after the clock company for which Mr. Angelo Mapelli worked went out of business.  The first job for the Mapelli was making a batch of iron brake drums for the Moto Guzzi (Guzzi motorcycles).
Then the first shell-casting press was built.  This technique was put aside in favor of the new pressure die-cast method.

The number of presses increased yearly until reaching the current numbe
r of ten.  From that moment on, the number of clients whose interests encompassed different sectors including motorcycles, textiles, electrical and electropneumatic sectors increased.
In the 1980's the Gilera Piaggio group became clients and ordered semi-cases, covers and accessories in pressure die-cast aluminum for a line of rather successful 125 hp motorcycles.

The company's headquarters was an old 300m2 spinning factory.  Later in 1968 the company bought an approximately 3000 m2 property on which the current compound was built; in 1992 it was again enlarged by about 800 m2: 700 m2 was dedicated to a warehouse and 100 m2 to offices and quality laboratory.
